Hi Guys,

Does anyone knows what is the equivalent time (in years) for every 1 temp cycle done at -65/+150C or 1 temp cycle done at -65/+175C?

Thanks

Hi Jarod,

There's no direct way to predict device lifetime from the number of temp cycles the device has passed. The way to estimate device lifetime based on TC results consists of three tricky steps:

Step 1: Use Coffin-Manson's equation to get the acceleration factor of the TC done in the lab versus the TC the device will experience in the field. The rel model for TC-induced fatigue in http://www.semiconfareast.com/relmodels3.htm can be used for this. Use the AF to determine how many field application temp cycles are equivalent to every lab TC cycle.

Step 2: Based on how the device will be used in the field, estimate how many temp cycles it will undergo in one year. Example, if the device will get turned on and off once a day, then you'll get 365 cycles per year.

Step 3: Estimate the # of years the device will survive by multiplying the AF and the TC cycles to get the field cycles, and then computing the lifetime from this.

Step 2 is tricky because it will require many assumptions on your part. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. I would like to ask what is the common value for the temperature difference factor?
