As an FA Engr, what doyou think is the most satisfying measure of your performance? Is it cycle?
For me, I like to be measured by the issues/problems effectively solved as a result of my analysis. |

I agree with you there. But I'm sure our managers will always insist that we also measure our cycle times since we are in a competitive industry where time is gold. This can be an issue at times, especially when you still need time and they already want a report. That's part of our job I guess.

| Ya, I agree with you, maybe the cycle time and the perfect report were more concerned by the manager |

it is a balance between time(cycle or quantity) and skill (degree of difficulty, etc). we may be the best technically but if we do not meet targets/deadlines it defeats our efforts. on the other hand, if we are "at-speed" we may be sacrificing quality with quantity.
it's like shooting a ball from the other side of the court in basketball. with 2 defenders, you fake the shot, 180 degree-turn, release and making it. unfortunately, time has run out. so it doesn't count.
it is somewhat like that. and sometimes it is painfully hard.
the remark on managers is common nowadays. more and more managers tend to micro-manage in recent times than in the past. |
