Hi Blue Eyes,
The choice of which ionizer to buy depends greatly on where it will be used, so we can not make this decision for you. Your best starting point is to ask yourself if you really need an ionizer. If so, will it be your primary ESD control or just as a back-up control?
Ionizers should only be considered as the primary ESD control if proper grounding of the equipment, personnel, and work surfaces is impossible, and if there are static generators in the area that can not be eliminated. All efforts should first be made to properly ground everything in the workplace and to eliminate static generators in the area so as to minimize static build-up and discharge.
Assuming that you’re convinced you really need an ionizer, then your considerations in purchasing an ionizer are: coverage area (should cover everything that needs protection), discharge time (the shorter the better), installation mode (bench top? overhead?), its dimensions, air flow, user comfort, reliability, maintainability, and costs of purchase and operation.
Note that an improperly working ionizer such as one that emits an imbalance of ions will do more harm than good, so you would want to get an ionizer that’s easy to check for such malfunctions (if possible, get one that auto-balances its ion output).
Good luck and keep on posting!
