I agree with you ...it's the attitude that counts....we need to become open minded ....kung taga amkor ka , at least dalawa na tayo and I beleive marami pa ring iba , then eventually siguro iba na takbo ng bawat area na hawak natin, kasi ako galing sa OJT , technician , PM Technician,OFW,PM supervisor and Equipment Engineer , Process and Equipment Engineer , Equipment Development Engineer , OEM Service Engineer , Sr. engineer , Section Head , Section Manager. Title at responsibility lang yung nababago at syempre pati area of assignment , but still nagpapasalamat ako at ako ay may trabaho at palaging may natututuhan at nakikilalalang ibang tao at kaiibigan. Kaya sana tulungan nating ipaliwanag sa ating munting paraan na dapat tayong mga Filipino Engineers ay magtulungan at huwag maging dahilan ng pagsasara ng anumang Kumpanya sa Pilipinas.

u'r right Sir! i also used to be an OJT, a maintenance technician, then an engineer... i'm still young to the industry but i'm still thankful of that humbling start Amkor has given me, kahit pa yung salary mo is half ng salary ng kaibigan mo sa ibang company, di mababayaran yung fulfillment na nararamdaman mo sa kung anong nagagawa mo, kung anong nakikita ng ibang tao na kakayahan mo, kung ano bilib ng mga ka-trabaho mo pag ikaw gumagawa, pag ikaw nagsalita eh wala ng madami pang reklamo dahil nagtitiwala sila sa yo... that trust that would take years to build.. and i believe that salary is not the gauge of achievement, marami ka ngang pera, di ka naman masaya, galit naman karamihan ng ka-trabaho mo sa yo, questionable lagi credibility mo, di ba?...

kung salary magiging reason mo para umalis sa job mo, i believe sa sinasabi ng teacher ko sa Psychology dati na, "for an above average person, salary is his least priority when it comes to job selection and assessment"..

to avoid having that ill-feeling towards your company, set a goal in mind, then do all the good means to achieve that goal. if you failed to achieve that within the time frame you defined, then give a leeway, sabi nga sa ating project roadmap lagi eh re-sched... if you set it that you should be promoted this year but failed then do better so probably next year eh mami-meet mo yun...

bottomline nito, assess mo yung sarili mo, masaya ka ba sa ginagawa mo? may fulfillment ka bang nararamdaman? tama ba at sapat nagagawa at naitutulong mo? ano pa pwede makabuti sa yo at sa kumpanya mo? dahil kung wala at puro negative sagot mo sa mga tanong na 'to then maybe u'r in the wrong place aside from having the wrong mindset... humanap ka na lang ng ibang job na makakapagpasaya sa yo..

eto pa lagi mo ding isipin, mahirap maghanap ng work, many people out there are unemployed if not underemployed, think also of the job security, kc di ka naman tatanggalin sa trabaho kung walang dahilan, karamihan naman dito is umaalis, hindi pinapaalis.. always do everything with good intention and in good deed para walang masilip sa yo at kukunsensya sa yo habambuhay... isipin mo na lang kung pamilyado kang tao and you solely depend on your salary as your living allowance, paano na pag nagsara ang mga kumpanya katulad ng Amkor? mahirap din kc pag puro na lang tayo reklamo, eh dun nagiging masarap ang buhay di ba? sa mga hirap na pinagdaanan at nalagpasan natin kc it made us a stronger person, nadagdagan ang ating mga lessons na natutunan...

ang haba na nito, pa-advise na lang kaya kayo sa mga Daddy at Mommy nyo? imumulat nila kayo sa kung anumang gumugulo sa isipan nyo...

Siguro sa ibang departamento... maayos, wal anga kaming load nagyon e.. may CL p... taga amkor lang may alam nito...

Maraming umaalis... Sa totoo lang, pera pera lang yan.. syempre dun sa mas malaki...

extpertise wise... sa ibang company, if you are honed to be jack of all trades, i believe you are honed to be a manager... Sa amkor kasi, as i can see it, they hone you to be a specialist. kaya may matatagal n sa isang station, and dun p din sila.

nsa tao/engr n yung bahalang mag decide dun. if he/she wants to be a jack of all trades or a specialist.

marami talagang umaalis... pera pera lang yan b....

andun pa naman tayo eh, jina-justify lang yung pagiging ok pa nga ba ng amkor kc since may mali sa mga attitude natin which is obviously true, nagiging masama yung image nya kc nag-a-alisan na nga mga engineers dito (MEE/PE/TDT/SUP/TECH)...

bottomline, nasa attitude ng tao yan, kung papaanong view nya tinitingnan yung sagot para sa katanungan...

for a person with a positive outlook in life, he will see more on the positive side of the situation and would surely arrive more of a positive answer..

for a negative thinker, he would just complain and complain and complain! he would see more on the negative side and will worsen the situation instead of trying something to make it better... okidoki?

OK Pa Ba Ang Amkor - this is the topic right, I believe Amkor is very stable company and a company designed to last longer , sa area ko the volume is getting higher and higher , marami ang available na die , the problem is the capacity on some stations, we are now doing the improvements in alll areas to be ready for the ramp of volume, but as of the moment we cannot start investing or release money because the average selling price (ASP)of the products is still low, the marketing is still on the process of requesting for an increase on prices by a little which will be justifiable, some customers already approved it , we are waiting for the others , so in the very near future we will be able to spend money thru capital investment to have additonal capacity.Kasi, kung malaki nga ang Load at Volume kung hindi naman kikita ang Amkor , kawawa naman tayo, dagdag na problema lang at trabaho sa kumpanya pero wala namang mapapala ang kumpanya, at syempre , pag walang napala ang kumpanya , wala ring mapapala ang mga empleyado. Kaya kung tutuusin , mahusay din yung mga nagdedesisyon sa itaas kaya lang hindi nalalaman sa ibaba yung nangyayari sa itaas dahil , sa ilang mga amo na nakakalimot mag-download ng information sa ibaba. Natutuhan ko kasi sa Leadership Training namin , our subbordinates deserved to be informed, kaya sana paki-usap ko sa mga middle managers or engrs na gaya natin, let's make sure our subordinates know the real situations para walang nagrereklamo.

OK Pa Ba Sa Amkor - I believe it depends on how you are going to view it , kung hindi ka umaasenso , kung hindi ka natututo , or in-short kung wala kang ambisyon maaring hindi OK para sa iba ang Amkor. Kaya sana
kung maaari , kung ayaw na natin sa Amkor, lumipat na lang tayo sa iba , at huwag na nating siraan pa ang Amkor as a company, dahil may iba-ibang problema at reklamo ang bawat isa sa atin, kaya kung hindi tayo okey sa Boss natin , sa kanya na lang tayo magreklamo at huwag nating kaladkarin yung pangalang Amkor as a whole kasi nadadamay yung mga taga Amkor na walang reklamo.

We cannot please everybody, let's just work and work hard , ang isipin natin habang tayo ay nagtatrabaho , palaging nakatingin sa atin ang AMO natin at ang Diyos, palagay ko unti unti magbabago performance natin.

salamat.....kaya mo yan .....kaya natin yan......at least marami na sa atin ang open-minded sa amkor and I'm happy for that.......

I never thought of a FORUM exclusively for SEMICON people.
By the way Im newbie here, and Im from the company that was qouted by the thread starter...and its really caught my attention.

Then why dont we analyze further to understand and eventually response
what is being asked.

OK PA BA SA AMKOR? We've heared a lot of Amkor people leaving the company but the question to follow is...Where are they going?
I doubt a Process engineer will leave Amkor for nothing...

Ive been working for this company for more than a year now..and had
experienced this kind of working under pressure, heared shouting voices from my immediate superior...and I was cultured shock in my first few months here which push me harder to find a place with lesser noise, challenges..etc.

Working in Amkor is like studying MBA in UP,you really have to work hard.
No one will teach you, do your own job, if it fails take the risks.
Don't expect other people (even your closest one) will save you from drowning cause its a COVER YOUR ASS play.
Fast phasing job, my one day RD is like I am one week behind of my activities.
Even 8 hours of working is insufficient, attending line issues, finishing reports being rushed by your boss not to mention some irritated documentations, responds internal audit etc...
Then eventually realized, the word PRESSURE is already incorporated to AMKOR.
But despite of all, dont let other people notice you that way, always pretend to
be cool. I noticed some newcomers also gets pressured, no matter how they are
well-experienced from their previous jobs.
"Kung bago ka sa Amkor, hindi pwede ang pagiging humble at soft spoken dahil
kakainin ka dito ng buhay", this is what Ive heared from a senior engineer
reffering to a newly hired Dept. Man of one department.
But it depends on how you handle work, I envy those people who works
smart, its absolutely better than working hard.

But in fairness to the company, maybe a one year experience is insufficient to
judge Amkor this way. To think that there are lot of Tm's who stayed Amkor
for like 2 decades.

OK PA BA SA AMKOR? Defenitely, OK na OK pa.Then why are these people leaving?
Because most them were being pirated by other companies, offered much higher salary,
giving much better benefits, and the best of all, ang magiging boss mo ay dati mo
ring kabatak sa Amkor noon hehehe...

Even some companies abroad are now being "Amkorized", thats how they call it.
In this game, the burden is on Amkor side. Amkor is being used as a experience
ground, a stepping stone...

So as a Yuppie like me, I am fortunate to be part of this company,for I know
future will soon be bright for me...defenitely not by staying my entire life
in this place and Im just being frank.

Salary? just a little bit behind of my friend's salary who works in
a call center.

It is not true na nag-aalisan ang mga engrs sa amkor.

It is that merong mga disgruntled high or middle manager or sr engineer that when they find other company, gusto nila kunin yung mga alipores nila.

sad to say na marami na nga talagang umalis ng amkor... like me.
partly true... na di na ganun ka-interesting and ka-challenging to work there. Well, primarily, because of the people. Iba na talaga culture...

Oo nga... ang alam ko last batch ay 5 silang umalis.... may tinapos lang ang contract, may di na nakayanan yung culture at merong nagkahamunan lang at tinaya ang trabaho.

this is a good and classic example of how filipino engineers are thinking , amkor as a training ground , and you know why , it's good to have this kind of exchanges of ideas , nakamonitor na to sa HR ng Amkor and I believe coming from the mouth of one VP , they are now closely monitoring re-entry of ex-Amkor people , and perhaps those who will decide to go out will no longer have the chance to come back ( yun ang masakit) so if we are thinking of leaving Amkor , let's make sure na ready talaga tayo, pati yung interviews being conducted by UTAC and Stats, naka monitor din but bottomline wala naman magagawa yung Amkor management kung gusto talaga nating umalis di ba , the tendency is i-counter offer tayo or payagan tayo , ganon lang naman yung sistema but I'm very sure mapuputol na yung entry ng balik - amkor dahil ginagawa lang daw garahehan ng mga OFW ang Amkor .Ok lang yon , magagaling naman ang mga taga-amkor , sanay mapagalitan , at matiisin , kahit alipustahin ng mga amo , pasok pa rin , itong mga qualities na ito ang lamang ng mga taga amkor sa mga engrs. ng ibang kumpanya other than these pare-pareho lang.
