| |
Hi,
Can anyone advise me these questions as following?
1. Pb free components can be soldered using existing Sn-Pb solder and temperature profiles. This means its Pb free parts can be used on current non-Pb free process without any risk.
2. Non-Pb free components can be soldered using lead-free solders and the appropriate higher temperature profiles. This means its non-Pb free parts can be withstand Pb free temperature profile without problem.
I suffered customer's inquirement and they want to make sure that's no problem. Thanks!! |

Statement # 1 is true, Pb-free parts are qualified to withstand higher soldering temps (250-260 C).
Statement # 2 is false, non-Pb-free parts may not be able to withstand the Pb-free temp profiles, since non-Pb-free parts were qualified using lower peak temps (220-235 C).

| Pb-free product has "whisker" problem. Be careful of that. |
