for those who think negative of Amkor, or any company where you've been working, be fair... don't forget that at least for once in your life, you've experienced such things and in the case of that guy/ gal who stated negative comments, there might have been good memories/ experiences for sure.. these bad and good experiences are the best factors that would mold our being/ our attitude and in general for WHO WE ARE TODAY..
if one day you come and join a company then feel bitter afterwards then you should haven't stayed a day longer. you should have kicked yourselves out IMMEDIATELY...
one more thing, think of the days you were able to support your family during your time of stay, unless you're rich! but it would be illogical to work in a "not good" company when you're damn rich....
many are still jobless, or otherwise underemployed out there... better accept, understand or try to do something to change the bad things you see of your company, rather than complain and complain and complain.... sometimes it doesn't hurt to always hope for the better and do something to change for the better..
these makes me wonder why other companies expect so high of ex-amkor engineers/ employees...... |

| yeah in fairness, Phillips hired someone because she came from Amkor, where the technology is, where the competition is tough, where only tough people survive.... |

| The Philippines is no longer an investment heaven for big semicon companies, so we Pinoys must be thankful if big companies like Amkor is staying here to do business. It's true people who work in Amkor are expected to work very hard, but they also get a high pay, right? |

| do"some engineers" refer to those who just jumped over d bakod, out of the other local competitors and out of the country- same line of business, then returned with their "bosses/ comrades/ blah blah blahs?" make it clear please.... i just wish they're really that competitive to be paid high.... but bottomline, God knows who deserves the right pay, the right prize, the right salary... and don't forget, where's the C O N S C I E N C E ? |

Conscience? C'mon, guys. We're all talking about 'people control' here, so don't look for conscience. Managers here don't pay you what you deserve. They pay you based on the 'power-tripping' they feel. People who are sipsip to them get rewarded, no matter how incompetent. They're even willing to hire 'mga walang alam' from other companies without looking who they can promote inside first. That way they get 'yes'-people from outside. And we're asking why companies are leaving the Philippines? Ha-ha-ha!!!

| In fairness,, having a company like amkor really out shines other profession... but to be clear that is image wise only...many are working hard yet under paid...others over paid yet under worked...vis a vis...so bottom line...whining about the situation inside amkor really is just a icing on the cake compared to what those few excellent guys that is really technical/ engineering people have given the company and yet so will ask " was it worth it". Attention: _!!!!! |

guys,
I'm just new to Amkor about a month , handling the Maintenance Engineering in a Solid Amkor Culture FrameWork and people mindset, I've observed that comparing to my previous company , there are lots of people working in amkor perfroming the same type of jobs in the same area which mean they are not flexible , the normal reason being mentioned was that because the volume is big and the area is big , but for me it's not at all, most of the poeple are just on their comfort zones. They are working in Amkor P1 for 5 yrs, 10 , 15 , 20 or more but still they are not comparable enough with other people from small semicon company which are flexible and can do many task or different kind of tasks at the same time. I thougt before that Amkor People are good since amkor has a good reputation as a bench mark company, but I was surprised, when I started doing my job in production line , most of the people are doing traditional approaches and sensitive particulalry to changes. They are good in making reports but if you're going to dig deeper , I don't want to comment but I believed former Amkor guys knew it. There was a Culture Shock , on my first day , there are lots of loud voices on the meetings.
I don't want to portray that amkor guys are not good because there are amkor guys who are really good and a real subject matter expert , but it could be around 5% only ( most of them are not involved in operation) and 95 % are ,it's up to everybody to judge. It's very difficult for any engineer to improve if he himself believe that he is already the best one, just because he is or he was an Amkor engineer, technician or manager . You know what I mean....there are engineers , technicians and managers that are still in Amkor but what they have in mind is to get out of Amkor , because they feel that they are not fairly paid, and these people in my opinion are not doing their job in a highest form that they can do , because they are distracted and have no focus , so what would you expect to people working without focus? There are people who resigned from Amkor but get back , WHY ? there were lot of excuses , like family , home sick , problem , but the reality is that , they are good only while they are inside Amkor and most of them was just it's only Amkor who can offer them higher salary or because they want to go back on their comfort zones.
BOTTOMLINE , IF YOU CANNOT SAY GOOD WORDS ABOUT YOUR COMPANY AND FORMER COMPANY, IT'S BETTER TO BE SILENT. iF YOU CANNOT GET HIGHER SALARY FROM OTHER COMPANY , DON'T BLAME YOUR BOSS OR YOUR COMPANY FOR NOT GIVING YOU HIGHER SALARY.
iNSTEAD OF COMPLAINING , WHY NOT RESIGN AND LOOK FOR COMPANY THAT WILL SATISFY YOUR NEEDS, BECAUSE I BELIEVE IF YOU ARE REALLY GOOD, WHATEVER COMPANY YOU'RE GOING TO JOIN, YOU'RE STILL GOOD. HINDI NAMAN SIGURO MAWAWALA YUNG GALING MO DAHIL LUMIPAT KA NG IBANG KUMPANYA , MADADAGDAGAN PA NGA DAHIL MAY BAGONG MATUTUTUHAN TAYO. KAYA LANG MARAMI SA ATIN ANG TAKOT MATUTO AT MATURUAN NG IBA DAHIL SA MALING PANINIWALA NA KAPAG NAGTANONG SIYA AT NAGPATURO SA IBA , EH BAKA LUMITAW NA MAS MAGALING SA KANYA ANG PINAGTANUNGAN NYA.,....THINK TWICE GUYS, WALANG BAYAD ANG TANONG , DAPAT MATUWA TAYO PAG MAY KASAMA TAYONG MAGALING AT LEAST MAHAHAWA TAYO SA PAGIGING MAGALING. If you want to become good engineer , surround yourself with better engineers, if you want to become good manager, surround yourself with better managers at the end we are not working together for the rest of our life.
Unleasing Your Highest Potential......Kaya Natin Ito.....para walang argumento , tingnan mo ang tinitingnan ng kausap mo as the art of Right Perspective.... |

we have to believe it, nasa tao pa rin palagi yan.... nasa attitude, kung paano pinalaki, kung paano na-guide ng magulang, ng teachers at lahat ng pwede nyang naging mentor na nag-mold kung anong klaseng tao sya ngayon...
etong sinasabi mo na to,
They are working in Amkor P1 for 5 yrs, 10 , 15 , 20 or more but still they are not comparable enough with other people from small semicon company which are flexible and can do many task or different kind of tasks at the same time.
depende pa rin yan kung sa paanong anggulo mo titingnan... You could say that those people who can are flexible are of advantage 'coz as the word you used alone is that they are indeed flexible... what i observe is that they may be a Jack of all trades, but master of nothing.. whereas, one couldn't be that flexible but he is a subject matter expert, or a master of something, though nobody is perfect yet, one could be the best among the best, ryt?
and it also depends on how you were molded... i could say that i, being a member of a startup team for a new product line is flexible and is also a subject matter expert of the equipments and the processes i have involved myself with (as compared to those technical and non-technical persons inside the line right now)... and how i achieved that is just having the right attitude, having an open-mind for everything...
one thing i also see is, effective engineers and managers are those that came from the lowest level upon employment. An engineer who came in fresh from school is nothing compared to that engineer who started as a production operator to technician, then to engineer...
most engineers are not technically skilled, let's just start from machine operation, programming, setup, conversion, troubleshooting, etc (especially Process Engineers ha!)... they're just good in making reports...
bottomline, nasa attitude pa rin yan, wag na lang kc tayo puro reklamo, tingnan na rin natin kung ano nagagawa natin...... |
