Aside from wire bond issues, what other kinds of failures can high temp and low temp testing can catch? Just want to settle this question with a friend of mine.

hi,
Temp testing is not all about assembly related failures.
Most of the parametric/functional testing are required to be at certain temp. One example of this is VOS, which drifted from one to another level. That's why VOS was tested in multiple temp, which is also again follows what application will the part will be used.
Ib, is also a good example. Vtune for PLL. Slew rate for most digital parts. INL/DNL for mixed signal parts.
