I was talking to some guys (from other companies) I met in a SEIPI-sponsored curriculum development workshop last Friday, and at least two of them (from two different companies) confirmed that they are already transferring some of their operations to a certain country (itago na lang natin ito sa pangalang 'XXXX'). One of them even joked that they might see their entire operations gone in 5 years. Another one commented that the basic salary of an operator in XXXX is higher than the basic salary of a household ‘kasambahay’ here in the Philippines.

In fairness though, someone from a big subcon here in the Philippines said that they don’t think they’ll transfer to XXXX, for reasons I will not mention here (baka malaman pa ng mga taga-labas). We still have some advantages of our own here, definitely. But a lot of work has to be done to keep existing operations intact - we must not deny that.

No, this is not meant to be another ‘doomsday’ prediction, but rather something I want to be known to people who can make a difference. If you think you're one of these people who can make a difference, then the time to do it is now.

many things had been said about our country, situation, direction....but the people in power will never heed us unless there's a mass of voters. we - the working class, the ones paying taxes religiously, the engines of the industries - should unite and form a national working class or middle class organization and have one solid voice on what changes we want, and how we want these changes implemented.

the long shot is to wait for someone who is logical, reasonable, and incorruptible. one with clean hands. one with personality and character. one who would do the same regardless if there are people or none. and that one is.....this is a long shot!

maybe we can move in parallel...
