| If you are planning to register a semicon-related company with DTI, I have bad news for you. It seems that they are no longer allowing the use of the word ‘semicon’ in business names, for reasons unknown.
For several weeks now I’ve been trying to register a sole-proprietorship business name with them. Every single application I lodged with them got axed, each time for a different reason. I’m trying to be a good entrepreneur for love of our country (peks man!), so I kept on trying to revise my business name in accordance with every guideline they made me comply with. Wala pa rin. Then last week I got this reason for the rejection: “the word ‘semicon’ can’t be used”. That does it! So much for trying to help the country by going into a tech business. No wonder everyone here in the Philippines goes into food business. DTI knows nothing about the semicon industry, and would reject every application that does not cater to the food business. In fact, I did a little research to prove this, and I was right – someone is using the business name ‘Semicon Catering Services.’ Serves me right for trying to set up a semicon-related business. bakit naman katawa ang post ni OFV? sa lagay eh tinablan sya sa term "fishballs" eh. pero in fairness to NFV naman, alam mo we experienced the same thing nung nagpapa-register kami ng aming network gaming business. "virtual" naman ang ayaw nilang word. pero hey, what's in a word anyway? sabi nga " a rose by any other name will still smell as sweet..." kaya nfv, be creative, bakit di mo na lang i-name business mo ng "Chip-pipay" or "IC you" depende kung ano ba ang services na io-offer mo...ayan, la na siguro angal ang dti jan.
