Hello Test Engr 99,
Welcome to the forum! It wouldn't be fair for us to give you advice on whether you should focus on your business or take up your master's. We have very little information about you and your business, so we might give you the wrong advice. At any rate, here are some insights that may help you make up your mind.
Having an M.S. degree is an advantage in making a good first impression, because it implies the following: you are hardworking, you manage your time well, and you have ambition. People will therefore give you some level of respect when they first start working with you. However, you still have to prove your true worth down the line. I've seen some MS degree holders who fared poorly in comparison to their non-MS peers. Remember, people will know your true worth once they start working with you, based on the results of your work and not on the degrees you hold!
Having a business, on the other hand, may give you additional income that can translate to financial security. Just be careful - you might end up losing both your job and your business if you are not able to do good in at least one of them because of conflict of interest or lack of time. Statistics say, however, that you need to focus on your business if you want it to make you a millionaire. So, if you think you have a good business and you're ready to go full blast with it, leave your job and dare to fail!
In the end it all boils down to your ultimate goal in life. If you want to be the 'consultant' type, get your PhD. If you want to be a corporate manager, get your MBA. If you want to be a business tycoon, concentrate on your business while you're young. You and you alone can make the decision.
Thanks and keep on posting!
