I'm a fresh Reliability engineer, who can tell me or where I can find the relationship between a reliability test and the products life?
such as: how long does 168Hrs PCT mean this products work time?
HAST 96 Hrs?
HTOL 1000Hrs? etc.
is there a document for this?
Thanks for your kindly help.

Hi YSP,

The equivalent operating life of an accelerated life test always depends on what failure mechanism is being talked about. Every failure mechanism may be modeled in terms of how it is accelerated by one or more stresses (such as temp, humidity, pressure, voltage, current, etc.). Examples of rel models may be found at: http://www.semiconfareast.com/relmodels.htm

You may compute the equivalent operating life of a rel test for a failure mechanism using the known rel model for that mechanism. Since a rel test can accelerate several different failure mechs, and since each mech has its own rel model, then a rel test can have different values of operating life. However, it is the fmech most quickly accelerated by the rel test that matters, because your earliest failures will come from this fmech.

You therefore have to understand the failure mechanism of your primary rejects before you can compute for the operating life. Once you know the primary fmech, then you simply have to look for a rel model for that fmech and compute for the field operating life based on your accelerated life test data.
