Our auditor gave me a callout because she said my logbook with plastic cover is a violation because it can cause ESD. Is this a valid call-out even if the units don't come in contact with my logbook?

Of course, Prod Supv, this is a valid call-out. Get a field meter and measure the voltage generated by your plastic cover. Chances are that it will be in the hundreds of volts. The electric field caused by such a large build-up can charge up your unit even if it doesn't contact the cover. Sudden grounding of your charged unit while in this field will damage it by CDM ESD.
